District
Today the Shaw / U Street Neighborhood of Washington,
DC ( also known to locals as "14th and U") is experiencing
a vibrant revitalization. A multi-cultural and historically
rich neighborhood known for its restaurants, theaters, clubs
and shopping.
The Shaw district is has a strong jazz and musical
heritage and was home to jazz legend Duke Ellington who was
born there in 1899. In addition, entertainers like Red Foxx
and Nat King Cole played the clubs in the area often.
